Droid Incredible Review
At the same time that Apple maniacs are drooling over the newly released iPhone 4, their Google loving counterparts are rallying around the new HTC Droid Incredible. And with a lightning-fast 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor and a slick (and sleek) new interface and casing design, it's no wonder.
The HTC Droid Incredible runs on the Google Android 2.1 operating system and comes with 8 GB of internal memory. A 3G capable device, the Droid Incredible features Wi-Fi, a GPS, and an 8 megapixel camera (making it one of the recent camera phones of choice among discriminating amateur photographers).
One of the Droid Incredible's biggest attributes is the variety and versatility of apps you can run on the device. And in line with that, users also appreciate that the Droid Incredible lets them multitask with multiple apps open at once--a feature the device's leading competitor is only just beginning to explore. That said, even HTC (or would this be Google's domain?) hasn't perfected this yet, as users are still unable to use data (i.e. internet/email) and voice (i.e. phone calling) simultaneously.
One piece of recent news that makes some users a tad nervous, however, is that Verizon, the carrier of the HTC Droid line, is phasing out the Eris, leaving one to wonder if the Incredible could be next.
Another interesting revelation, and one that had privacy hound dogs in a frenzy, was the fact that the HTC Incredible was capturing screenshots of your entire web browsing history. However, HTC has announced that it will soon be introducing a browser update that corrects that issue. Also coming soon to an HTC Droid Incredible near you will be 802.11n Wi-Fi.
With all its hiccups, however, the HTC Droid Incredible is certainly leaving an overall positive impression on users, at least if sales numbers are any indication--because the device hasn't even been out that long and it's already backordered by at least a month. So if you want an HTC Droid Incredible, don't delay in ordering it, because it may be a while before it's delivered. And if you want one and see one available in a store, online or off, snatch it up, because they're selling like hotcakes.
